First stop on our adventures was to Vienna. Mark and his choir had the amazing opportunity of performing Mozart's Requiem in St Stephan's Cathedral. They only allow 3-4 performances a year and 1,300 people turned up to see them!!
So proud!

Then we had the rest of the weekend to explore the city.

There was lots of strudel...

He made it while we ate it.

With lots of sights to see in between. German food is my favourite - lots of sausages, goulash, bread and yummy desserts topped off with wine. Perfect.

What was meant to be a weekend in the city turned into a week long holiday. There was no point going back to work for just a few more days that week anyway.
We took a train to the beautiful town called Obertraun in Salzkammergut - the Lake District of the Alps. It was breath-taking.

I wanted to get used to waking up every morning (in our adorable B&B) and seeing this view from the window.

With only one train every hour and three or four restaurants that opened sporadically, it was the essence of a relaxing holiday with noone but eachother for company.

We spent our days walking up the mountains that surrounded us. This was my first time in the Alps and I couldn't get over how much snow there was at the top! And the views!!

We got a cable car to the top and then went off exploring...

After hiking down the mountain, we were hot, achy and tired. One of the things on my bucketlist to do this year is to go wild swimming. It's something I've always wanted to do so we thought what better opportunity than in the lake near our place. The glacial one.
It was freezing, and I wasn't expecting the shock that hit me when I jumped in. My face is of pure panic but I'm SO glad I did it. I wish I'd embraced it more and got used to it, although the panic in me wanted to get out as soon as possible.

I now can't wait to try it again, maybe smaller scale, and become a wild swimming pro!

We wiled away our days walking up and down mountains, laughing our heads off and drinking lots of schnapps and hot chocolate. It was perfect and I wish I could go back.

Bring on the next adventures!
